ASA-CF
Material type: Plastic, Thermoplastic, ASA (Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate) with Carbon Fiber reinforcement
ASA-CF is a carbon fiber-reinforced ASA filament engineered for harsh outdoor conditions. It offers exceptional weather and UV resistance, retaining the advantages of ASA while adding carbon fiber for increased stiffness and dimensional stability. This makes it the perfect choice for large-scale models requiring durability and precision in demanding environments.

Material advantages
Superior outdoor durability: One of the top materials for outdoor use, with excellent resistance to harsh weather and UV exposure. Ideal for durable garden tools, outdoor furniture, and protective enclosures for electronics.
Enhanced stiffness: Offers 67% more stiffness compared to standard ASA (Bending Modulus – XY: 3740 MPa vs 1920 MPa), making it suitable for parts that need to withstand significant load and resist bending, such as camping accessories, plant stands, or other outdoor furniture.
Optimized for large models: Carbon fiber reduces warping, ensuring outstanding dimensional stability, ideal for large models or parts requiring high precision, such as those in assembly.
Sleek matte finish: The smooth matte surface, with minimal visible layer lines, gives ASA-CF a refined, natural appearance, perfect for detailed models like planters and other outdoor decor.
Water resistant
Heat resistant
UV resistant
Wear resistant.
Material shortcomings
Reduced toughness: Impact Strength (XY) is 14.0 kJ/m² compared to 41.0 kJ/m² for standard ASA, making it less impact-resistant.
Pungent fumes: ASA-CF releases styrene and other harmful gases during printing, which can cause dizziness and nausea. Printing on an enclosed printer with ventilation or air filtration is strongly recommended.
Hardened steel nozzle mandatory: Carbon fiber is abrasive and will wear brass nozzles quickly. A hardened steel nozzle is required.
Enclosure printers required: An enclosed chamber is mandatory when printing ASA-CF to prevent warping and maintain a stable temperature.
Drying required before use: Moisture can increase stringing and reduce surface quality. ASA-CF must be dried before printing.
Not food-safe: This product is not food-contact grade. Avoid using printed parts for holding or contacting food.
Skin irritation risk: The surface and edges may have invisible hard micro-spikes. Wear cut-resistant gloves and safety glasses when handling filament, removing supports, or sanding prints.
Recommended description
ASA-CF is a carbon fiber-reinforced ASA filament for FDM 3D printing. It combines ASA's exceptional UV and weather resistance with carbon fiber's stiffness and warp control, delivering 67% higher stiffness than standard ASA and excellent dimensional stability. It is ideal for rugged outdoor parts, large-scale models, load-bearing applications, outdoor furniture, automotive parts, and structural components. However, it requires an enclosed printer, a hardened steel nozzle, and proper ventilation due to fumes and abrasiveness.
