PA0RDT Mini Whip Bias-T
The Bias-T - power / splitter ( vers. 2025 ) required to power the mini whip antenna designed by PA0RDT for 10kHz to 30MHz. If you want to improve it to resonate better on lower frequencies you could replace C4 with a 1uF capacitor / non-polarized. The performance of the antenna depends a lot on the location and how well it was grounded. I did not specified the connectors so I can let you pick the ones you like. I left big pads on the PCB board for the ANT and the RF OUT, so you can either solder the board straight on the connectors ( BNC, SO239, etc. ), solder wires that go to the connectors, or to solder the coax cable directly on the PCB board. Some versions include a separation transformer to isolate the receiver from the Bias-T / Antenna to reduce noise. Due to the lack of some magnetic materials to resonate on VLF, I decided not to use it. Especially because I am happy with the way it works. A proper antenna installation will help enough to avoid noise. You will have to provide the external hardware. PCB Way will not provide these on the assembled version. More details in the Blog Article ( Coming Soon ).
