VivaPatch: Compact & portable ECG-Plaster

Dear PCBWay Team,

My name is Karen and I am part of a student team from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) participating in COSIMA 2026 (Competition of Students in Microsystems Applications) at the electronica trade fair in Munich on November 12–13, 2026.

We are developing VivaPatch, a compact and lightweight wearable ECG patch for the chest. It continuously records heart signals and transmits them via Bluetooth to a smartphone. Our goal is to develop an affordable and sustainable prototype using reusable electronics that can be easily integrated into daily life. We are all Electrical Engineering students in our masters and are passionate about micro- and nanoelectronic systems and their software integration, which is why we decided to team up to create a device with a medical use-case.

We have now completed the PCB design and are ready for manufacturing. As the student responsible for the PCB design, I designed a 4-layer 4*3cm board with components on both sides to reach maximum area efficiency, as well as respect restrictions, such as the keepout zone for the ESP-32-WROOM microcontroller module. As for our ECG sensor, we decided on using the AD8232ACPZ-WP. For a long-lasting lifetime, the device uses a rechargable LiPo coin cell battery.

For our first prototype run, we would need 5 PCBs with full component assembly. As students, we unfortunately do not have access to suitable reflow soldering equipment for assembling the boards ourselves.

We would therefore like to ask whether PCBWay could support our project through your Competition PCB Sponsorship Program, either with free manufacturing and assembly or a sponsorship discount.

We would be happy to provide the Gerber files, BOM, schematic, PCB renderings, project description and team information for your assessment. We would also be glad to acknowledge PCBWay as a sponsor in our project presentation and related materials at the COSIMA competition.

I have attached some images of our project for reference. Thank you very much for considering supporting our project. We would be excited to work with PCBWay!

Kind regards,

Karen Philip
