RCTech- Romeu Correia Tech

Who are we?

RCTech – Romeu Correia Tech is a robotics team formed by five students from Romeu Correia Secondary School in Almada, Portugal. Founded in 2025, our mission is to continue our school’s robotics legacy while developing innovative autonomous robots that combine artificial intelligence, electronics, and mechanical engineering. After competing internationally in the Czech Republic and Austria and achieving 3rd place at the Portuguese National Robotics Festival, we are now preparing an even more ambitious robot for the 2027 season.

Hardware Diagram

System Architecture Overview

This diagram presents the complete electronic architecture of our autonomous robot. It illustrates how the Raspberry Pi 5, Raspberry Pi Pico, Google Coral AI Accelerator, sensors, motor drivers, servo controller, custom PCBs, and power distribution system are interconnected. The design has been developed to ensure modularity, reliability, and ease of maintenance while providing a robust platform for autonomous navigation and real-time decision making.

Main PCB

Main Control PCB

The Main PCB is the central electronic board of our robot. It is responsible for integrating the Raspberry Pi Pico, power management circuitry, communication interfaces, sensor connections, and peripheral devices into a single compact module. By replacing individual wiring with a custom PCB, we significantly improve reliability, simplify assembly, reduce electrical noise, and make the system easier to maintain during competitions.

LED PCB

Status and Signal Lighting PCB

This custom PCB controls the robot's LED lighting system, providing clear visual feedback regarding the robot's operating state, diagnostics, and competition status. Although relatively simple, it contributes to the overall professionalism and modularity of the electrical system while demonstrating our experience in custom PCB design.

Robot 3D Model

Complete CAD Model

This CAD model represents the current mechanical design of our 2027 competition robot. Every subsystem—including electronics, sensors, drivetrain, camera mount, and custom PCBs—has been designed simultaneously to ensure proper integration before manufacturing begins. The model allows us to validate dimensions, accessibility, weight distribution, and component placement while minimizing costly design errors.

Robot with Visible PCBs

PCB Integration within the Robot

This rendering illustrates how the custom-designed PCBs are integrated into the robot chassis. Rather than relying on prototype boards and point-to-point wiring, the electronics have been designed as dedicated modules that improve reliability, simplify maintenance, and provide a cleaner, more professional implementation. PCBWay's manufacturing support would allow these designs to become production-quality boards suitable for international competition.

Our request:

As part of the 2027 redesign, our team is developing a completely custom electronic architecture. Every PCB has been designed specifically for our robot, allowing us to create a modular, reliable, and competition-ready system. These boards replace traditional prototype wiring, improving electrical reliability, simplifying maintenance, and reducing assembly time. With PCBWay's support, we aim to transform these designs into professionally manufactured PCBs that will become the foundation of our autonomous robot.
