We are a team of motivated Grade 12 students from Gems Modern Academy, participating in the Stem racing competition. F1 in Schools is a globally recognised STEM challenge where students work as a professional motorsport team to design, manufacture, test, and race a miniature Formula 1 car. Alongside engineering and design, the competition places strong emphasis on project management, marketing, finance, and teamwork.

'Velaris Racing' reflects our team’s commitment to speed, precision, and innovation. The name 'Velaris' is inspired by the Latin word 'velox' meaning swift or rapid, which closely represents the essence of motorsport. In racing, every fraction of a second matters, and the idea of swiftness perfectly captures the performance we aim to achieve. The suffix '-aris' gives the name a refined and modern tone. Together, 'Velaris Racing' symbolizes speed, engineering excellence, and forward momentum which are the values that define our approach to designing, building, and competing in the global STEM Racing competition.

Our objective is to successfully compete at the National Level of F1 in Schools by developing a competitive car, maintaining high engineering standards, and presenting a strong team enterprise strategy. Through this journey, we aim to gain hands-on experience in engineering, innovation, and professional collaboration while representing our school with excellence.

2. About Stem Racing

Stem Racing is an international STEM competition backed by Formula 1, where students are challenged to:

Design a miniature F1 car using CAD software

 Manufacture and test the car using precision tools

Analyse aerodynamics and performance

Manage a team enterprise, including marketing and finance

Present their work to industry professionals and judges

The competition encourages problem-solving, creativity, leadership, and real-world engineering application, making it an ideal platform for students aspiring to careers in engineering, technology, and business.
