The Steel Dragons Robotics Team

We are excited to have just completed the strongest season in the history of the Steel Dragons Robotics program. We compete annually in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), the largest high school robotics competition in the world. This season, we won an alliance captain position at the Pittsburgh Regional Competition and led our alliance to a third-place finish. We qualified for the FIRST World Championships in Houston, joining over four hundred teams from sixty-six countries in four days of high-level competition. The experience was incredibly rewarding and life-changing for our team of hardworking students, and now we are energized and committed to building upon our achievements.

We aim to provide increased access to a hands-on STEM learning environment for all interested Allderdice students, and keep the team competitive so new participants can have the same positive experiences current team members have had. Of our school population of 1,300 students, over 50% are minorities and 41% are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch programs. Every student, regardless of circumstance, deserves learning opportunities and experience beyond the classroom. We also hope to bring STEM experience to a local middle school by creating a First Technical Challenge and First Lego League team at Colfax Elementary School.
