Technikum Mittweida Motorsport

Founded in 2006, Technikum Mittweida Motorsport (TMM) is a Formula Student team from Hochschule Mittweida, Germany. Formula Student is often called the “Formula 1 of universities,” where student teams worldwide design, build, and compete with prototype race cars.

Our journey began with combustion-powered race cars, but since 2018 we have fully committed to electric mobility. With elCobra, Black Mamba, and most recently Red Viper, we have continuously expanded our knowledge in e-mobility, lightweight construction and custom electronic systems.

Season 2024/25: The Red Viper

Last season, we presented our strongest electric car yet, the Red Viper. With this vehicle, we successfully competed at multiple Formula Student events across Europe. A highlight was our 2nd place finish in the Efficiency category at Formula Student Netherlands, showcasing both the performance of our design and the dedication of our team.

Looking Ahead: The Next Generation Race Car

With the Red Viper season completed, our team is already working on its successor. This new vehicle will advance our concepts further in terms of efficiency, performance, and reliability. At the heart of this progress are several custom PCBs that we design and manufacture ourselves:

Battery Management System (BMS)

• Master and slave boards for precise monitoring, balancing, and securing of the high-voltage accumulator.
• Designed for safety compliance and high reliability under race conditions.

Dashboard

• Multifunctional driver interface for displaying critical data and enabling control inputs.
• Integrated Wi-Fi and LoRa connectivity for real-time diagnostics and remote monitoring during testing.

CAN Bus Coupler

• Collects sensor data from various subsystems.
• Ensures efficient integration into the vehicle’s CAN network for optimal data flow and system coordination.
