Tartan Autonomous Vehicle @ Carnegie Mellon University
Tartan AUV (TAUV) is Carnegie Mellon University’s brand new chapter of the RoboSub competition.
RoboSub is an annual competition where teams from universities around the world compete by
designing autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) to navigate a course and complete a variety of
tasks utilizing machine learning, object recognition, autonomous navigation, and signal
processing. While this is our first year competing, our team is composed of interdisciplinary
students with a strong and diverse background in robotics, computer science, and electrical and
computer engineering and we plan on being competitive right out of the gate at our first
competition in August 2019.
Our organization’s main mission is to bring Carnegie Mellon into the RoboSub community. Being a
university that embraces upcoming technology, we believe that it is only fitting that there be a
place where students can both learn and teach the technology required to build an autonomous
underwater submarine.
