Team Arion – Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology
1. About the institution
Established in 2001, NMIT, Bangalore, is now an engineering institution under NITTE University. Ranked 101–150 in NIRF 2025, it holds NBA (Tier-1), NAAC A+ and AICTE-CII Platinum accreditations. NMIT, located in Yelahanka, is recognized for its academic excellence and industry-oriented approach.

2.About our Team & Car
Team Arion is the official Formula Student team of Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, comprising over 60 undergraduate engineering students from various disciplines. Established in 2013, the team has consistently worked towards designing, manufacturing, and competing with formula-style race cars, while gaining hands-on experience in engineering design, manufacturing, and project management. We have actively participated in events such as Formula Bharat 2026, where we secured AIR 15 and AIR 3 in the Business Plan Event, and SAEINDIA SUPRA 2025, where we achieved AIR 11 along with the Innovation Award (CV & EV) and the Best Woman Participant Award. These experiences have helped us build strong technical capabilities and continuously improve our vehicle with each iteration.
The development of our car is a collaborative effort involving multiple subsystems, each focusing on a specific aspect of the vehicle. Our Design team works on the overall vehicle concept and integration, ensuring all subsystems come together as a cohesive system. The Chassis team develops a strong and lightweight frame, while the Powertrain team focuses on engine performance and drivetrain efficiency. The Vehicle Dynamics (VD) team works on suspension, handling, and overall drivability to ensure stability during dynamic events. Alongside the technical teams, our Business and Management team handles procurement, sponsor relations, and financial planning, while our Media and Marketing subsystem manages outreach and promotional activities. Together, all these subsystems directly contribute to the car’s performance, reliability, and overall success in both static and dynamic events.

3. Project Overview
For the 2026 season, Team Arion is focused on enhancing vehicle performance, reliability, and efficiency through improvements in mechanical design, electronics, and manufacturing processes. Our goal is to develop a well-integrated system that balances performance with safety and compliance with competition standards.
In addition to the technical development of the vehicle, we actively participate in static events such as the Cost Report, where we justify the cost and manufacturing feasibility of each component, the Engineering Design Presentation (EDP), where we defend our design decisions and engineering principles, and the Business Plan Presentation, where we present and market our vehicle as a viable product.

4.Competition Mission
For the upcoming season, we will be competing in SAEINDIA SUPRA 2026 and Formula Bharat 2027, both of which are Formula Student competitions that evaluate teams on both engineering and overall project execution.
Along with static events where we justify our cost, design, and business strategies, we are also required to clear multiple levels of technical inspections, where the car is thoroughly checked for rule compliance and safety. Only after successfully clearing these stringent inspections are we allowed to participate in dynamic events such as acceleration, skidpad, autocross, and endurance, which test the car’s overall performance and reliability.

5. Technical Requirements
To support our vehicle development, we require high-quality PCB manufacturing for critical electronic systems that demand precision and reliability. These include:
- Data Acquisition System (DAQ): This system is responsible for collecting and transmitting real-time data from various sensors across the vehicle, including temperature, pressure, and speed. It enables performance analysis, testing validation, and data-driven improvements.
- Brake System Plausibility Device (BSPD): A safety-critical system in Formula Student vehicles, ensuring proper correlation between braking and throttle inputs. It plays an essential role in preventing unintended acceleration and ensuring driver safety.
These systems operate under demanding conditions and therefore require robust, high-precision PCBs to ensure consistent performance, durability, and compliance with competition standards.
6. Why PCBWay
The Data Acquisition System (DAQ) and Brake System Plausibility Device (BSPD) are critical components of our vehicle’s electronics. The DAQ system allows us to monitor real-time data such as temperature, pressure, and speed, which is essential for performance analysis, testing, and making improvements to the car. The BSPD, on the other hand, is a mandatory safety system that ensures proper correlation between braking and throttle inputs, playing a key role in driver safety and rule compliance.
Since both these systems are highly sensitive and directly impact performance as well as safety, they require reliable and well-manufactured PCBs. As a student-led project that is largely dependent on sponsor support, assistance from PCBWay would be extremely valuable in helping us develop these systems effectively.
7. Benefits to PCBWay
Through this collaboration, PCBWay will gain valuable exposure and engagement across multiple platforms:
- Brand Visibility: Logo placement on the car, team apparel, and promotional materials during competitions and events
- Digital Exposure: Features across our social media platforms showcasing design, manufacturing, and implementation of PCBWay-supported components
- Technical Showcase: Demonstration of PCBWay-manufactured PCBs in a real-world, high-performance automotive application
- Campus Outreach: Workshops and technical sessions engaging over 1,000 students, promoting PCB design and manufacturing
- Association with Innovation: Alignment with a student-led engineering team from a reputed institution, actively participating in national competitions
8. Conclusion
We believe that a collaboration with PCBWay will be mutually beneficial, enabling us to enhance our vehicle’s electronic systems while providing PCBWay with meaningful visibility and technical showcasing opportunities.
We would be grateful for the opportunity to collaborate and are confident that this partnership will contribute to both our technical development and PCBWay’s outreach within the student engineering community.
