Purdue Baja Racing Team
Every year since 1979, the Purdue Baja Racing team has competed in the highest level of collegiate off-roading racing competitions – Baja SAE. Today, Purdue Baja Racing is an entirely student-run by a team of over 50 members, ranging from freshmen to seniors. We inspire the next generation of engineers and industry leaders to move the world forward. The team incorporates the design cycle to design, manufacture, and test a new off roading vehicle, iterating each year for better performance.
As the Purdue Baja Racing team continues to grow, we aim to enhance new member and alumni engagement, improve knowledge transfer of technical skills, and broaden our community presence. Our team gives back to the greater Lafayette, IN area by participating in events around campus and by volunteering to promote STEM education in younger generations.
Our team competes against over 100 other collegiate teams while striving to create a cohesive perennial upper 5ᵗʰ percentile team. We have consistently achieved this goal, earning overall finishes of 4ᵗʰ and 5ᵗʰ place in recent competitions. Event highlights from the past year include our 5th place endurance at Maryland, and 1st place in maneuverability at Carolina.
The above recap video features highlights from the past year. Previous vehicles and more team history can be found on our website (https://www.purduebajaracing.com/).
Looking at next year’s car, a major team goal is building a faster car, including improving CVT performance. To achieve this goal, we are following an accelerated CVT manufacturing timeline, allowing us to spend more time on testing and CVT tuning. PCBWay’s support with manufacturing CNC parts will be highly valuable in helping us achieve this timeline and develop a winning car.
We are seeking assistance with three (3) CNC machined parts for our CVT helix. The STEP file for first of the three has been uploaded to the quote system. The other two parts are very similar, with slight geometry changes.
The support of PCB Way would be highly valuable in helping us meet our manufacturing timeline and ultimately in building a successful vehicle to improve from our past performance. With PCB Way’s support, we can build a successful Baja SAE vehicle for the 2026 season and develop the engineering leaders of tomorrow. Thank you for your consideration, and we look forward to the possibility of working with PCB Way!
