LIRA Robotics Initiative (LRI)
Our project focuses on the design and development of advanced autonomous robotic systems built by the Laboratorio de Investigación en Robótica Avanzada (LIRA) at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).
We develop high-performance robotic platforms including:
- Humanoid biped robots
- Quadruped robots
- Autonomous service robots
- Micro aerial vehicles (UAVs)
- Ground exploration rovers
Each system is fully designed and integrated by our team, combining custom electronics, embedded systems, artificial intelligence, control algorithms, mechanical design, and human-centered interaction.
Our robots are developed for research, education, and international competitions such as RoboCup 2026, where we represent Mexico in one of the most important robotics and AI events in the world.
We created this project to:
- Push the limits of robotics development in Mexico.
- Provide hands-on, high-level engineering experience to students.
- Bridge academic research with real-world robotic applications.
- Represent our university and country in international competitions.
In Mexico and Latin America, access to advanced robotics development resources can be limited. Through this project, we aim to build world-class robotic systems while forming the next generation of engineers, researchers, and innovators.
We are driven by the belief that robotics will play a key role in exploration, service automation, disaster response, and intelligent assistance systems in the near future.
This project allows us to:
- Compete internationally
- Validate custom electronics in real robotic systems
- Generate high-level technical documentation
- Train future robotics engineers
By combining mechanical engineering, electronics design, embedded systems, AI, and human factors, our project represents a complete robotics ecosystem developed entirely by students.
PCBWay’s support would play a key role in transforming our designs into competition-ready robotic systems capable of performing at the highest international level. Together, we can demonstrate the real-world impact of advanced manufacturing in robotics, foster innovation within our academic community, and inspire future generations to pursue engineering and technological excellence. We are enthusiastic about the possibility of building this partnership and achieving great milestones together.
