ITU Sungur Rocket Team
About Us
We are İTÜ SUNGUR Rocket Team, a multidisciplinary student organization at Istanbul Technical University, focusing on advanced aerospace and underwater propulsion technologies. Our team consists of passionate students from aerospace, mechanical, electronics, computer, control and naval engineering departments, all coming together to tackle challenging engineering problems in two major projects:
- High-altitude Rocket Project
- Underwater Rocket Project
Both projects push the limits of student engineering in different environments — atmospheric and underwater — and both require complex, high-reliability electronic systems.
Underwater Rocket
The system designed for the competition is an underwater rocket vehicle. This vehicle travels underwater carrying a model rocket, cruises at approximately 2 meters depth, performs a 30-degree ascent maneuver, surfaces, and then launches the model rocket after reaching the surface.
- ITU Sungur Rocket Team successfully completed the mission and achieved a top-three ranking.
High-Altitude Rocket
This system is a sounding rocket designed to deliver a payload to a set altitude and recover it safely.
- The rocket weighs 4 kg and carries a scientific payload designed for reusable deployment.
- Optimized to reach 6500 meters.
- Dimensions: 3 meters length, 13 cm diameter.
