HyperLabs Soldering Practice Kit PCB V1.0

HyperLabs at VCU is an interdisciplinary product development organization that designs, builds, and creates innovative technology for practical applications using hands-on learning. This year, our team is focusing on teaching students essential skills in robotics and engineering. We are doing this through workshops for Lego Robotics, Arduino, Soldering, 3D Modeling for Fabrication, 3D Printing, and more!

For our Soldering Workshop, we have designed a custom soldering practice kit in the style of a badge. This board has 2 functionalities; an RGB Slider Circuit & a Binary Addition Circuit. The board is powered by either a coin cell battery or a USB Type-C input. Lastly, the entire board is through-hole components, except for the USB Type-C input Circuit. This means if students are unable to complete the surface mount components, the only feature they lose is the wired power source. The board is in the style of a badge which means that students can put the board on a lanyard and write their name and date they completed the board to show others. The badge also shows our collaborators and sponsors for the Soldering Workshops.
