HALO Smart Ring – India’s First AI-Powered Health & Camera Wearable

Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, India

Founded in 2024

The HALO Ring is a student-led innovation from Rajahmundry, India, aiming to create the world’s most compact AI-powered smart ring. Built by a multidisciplinary team of electronics and computer science students, the HALO Ring is a breakthrough wearable combining hea

lth monitoring, real-time image capture, AI interaction, and video playback — all in a compact ring-sized form factor.

The HALO team was founded with the mission of pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in microelectronics, wearable AI, and embedded systems. Inspired by leading-edge health and AR wearables, our project seeks to demonstrate that full-color displays, real-time voice processing, camera previews, and BLE connectivity can be miniaturized into a 20mm ring — fully powered by a custom-designed flexible PCB.

Project Vision

Our goal is to build an AI-powered smart ring with the ability to:

Monitor heart rate and SpO₂ in real-time

Capture 400x400 images via a ring-embedded camera

Display a live camera preview on a 0.39” full-color OLED (like a smartphone viewfinder)

Play short videos and AI-generated responses

Support voice interaction using a MEMS microphone and piezo speaker

Communicate with a companion Android app via BLE 5.1

Technical Overview

Core Features & Components

Speaker Murata VSLBP1918E Piezo – Plays ChatGPT audio responses (WAV, 8kHz)

Microphone Knowles SPH0641 MEMS – Voice recording for AI commands

Health Sensor MAX30102 – Measures heart rate and SpO₂ via I2C

Memory 1MB SPI Flash – Stores images, audio, and videos

Battery 48mAh Li-Po – Estimated runtime: ~20 minutes full load

PCB Custom 2-layer Flexible PCB, sized for a 20mm ring

Application Showcase: HALO in Action

Health Dashboard: Heart rate and SpO₂ live readings shown on OLED and synced to the HALO Android app

Camera Mode: Users can see a live preview from the tiny ring-mounted camera on the OLED display before capturing an image

Voice Assistant: AI interaction with ChatGPT (e.g., “What’s this?”) with text/audio response

Video Playback: HALO can play short videos (5–10s) sent from the HALO app on the 0.39” OLED screen — a feature not seen in any ring-sized wearable

PCBWay Sponsorship Request

A key part of HALO’s innovation lies in its custom flexible PCB, which integrates all sensors, the display, battery, and wireless module into a 20mm ring. We are currently preparing to manufacture our first working prototype, and support from PCBWay would be invaluable in achieving this.

With PCBWay’s prototyping and assembly support, we aim to:

Fabricate and assemble our first-generation flexible PCB

Rapidly test and iterate hardware for BLE communication, display output, and camera preview

Showcase the project in demo videos, competitions, and health innovation events in India

We believe this collaboration will not only bring HALO to life but also inspire other students in India to explore ultra-miniaturized embedded systems.

Project Media

We are preparing a behind-the-scenes video demonstrating:

Our HALO App dashboard (heart rate, SpO₂, camera)

Real-time OLED camera preview

Video playback feature

you can see the video of the Halo ring https://youtube.com/shorts/Q8IB8tSYpQA?si=Ap6KYK5Qlf6CJzfU

We’re incredibly excited about the possibility of partnering with PCBWay to bring this ambitious project to reality. HALO is more than a smart ring — it’s a showcase of what students can achieve at the edge of innovation. We want funding about 2000$ rupees for making the ring and selling the first 20 units and iam happy to say that most of the work to make the smart ring is dependent on pcb way hope you understand if anyone have further doubts or want to know more fell free to contact me this is my WhatsApp number 9052794498

We look forward to your support.

Warm regards,
