HFS Racing Team

We're HFS Racing Team, the Formula Student team of the HAN UAS located in Arnhem, the Netherlands. Each year we design, build and race our very own electric formula style racecar. With this we compete in various competitions against teams from different universities from all over the world. This year we'll be competing in Formula Future, Meppen Germany, and FS Alpe Adria, Zagreb Croatia.

The team was founded back in 2015, with that year the first ever HFS car, the HFS-01, was created. The team borrowed the car from DUT, Delft University Team, and looked at their designs and remade the car themselves. With this the HFS-01 was born and competed in FS Germany that year. The biggest accomplishment from that year was the reliability of the vehicle, managing to finish all dynamic events. This is a huge accomplishment for a first years team.

The second year of the team saw some great improvements, with the HFS-02 the team wanted to be even faster. The biggest issue of the HFS-01 was the weight. A big part of this was because of the 4 cylinder engine that was used, which was swapped for a 1 cylinder. This together with weight losses in different parts resulted in a total weight loss of 90kg! The car was an improvement in every single way compared to the HFS-01, performing exceptionally well in all events, sadly the car was disqualified from the endurance event due to a technical breakdown. This also marked the first time the team competed in two different competitions, FS Netherlands and FS Germany.

Now jumping all the way to the 2024-2025 season, this marked the 10 year anniversary of the team and it's first ever driving electric car and also the first car featuring aerodynamic devices in the form of a front and rear wing. Sadly the car wasn't fully rule compliant yet, failing scrutineering at FS Netherlands, however this still set a standard for the next year. The car was named the HFS-E03, since it was the third year the team was working on an electric car.

Now wih a base set by the previous car, the team is working harder then ever to finish the car for competition. As previously said, the team will go to Formula Future and FS Alpe Adria. The team is improving the car in a lot of ways, with the goal to reduce the weight by at least 20kg. This will be done by redesigning the chassis, accumulator and various smaller components.

Current design of the HFS E-04, Front and rear wing will be changed and sidepods/sidewings will be added
