From AI Prompts to a Working Split Keyboard
Who I am
I’m Rishabh, and I enjoy building projects that bring software and physical hardware together. For this project, I explored how far AI-assisted design could take me—from describing a keyboard to using the finished product.
Project story
I built a working Corne-style split keyboard, based on foostan’s open-source design, by prompting AI to use tscircuit.
The PCB and enclosure were developed side by side. The circuit is defined in TypeScript, with tscircuit handling component placement, autorouting, and fabrication exports. The matching enclosure includes separately printable bottom cases and switch plates.
PCBWay manufactured and assembled the boards. The finished keyboard uses RP2040 microcontrollers, low-profile Choc switches, USB-C, and a TRRS connection between its halves.
Words to PCBWay
I’m seeking sponsorship for the upcoming YouTube video. The keyboard is already manufactured and working. I can feature PCBWay’s fabrication and assembly process, include a clearly disclosed sponsor segment, and provide links in the video description. I’d welcome a discussion about sponsorship options.
