FOC ESC Dev Board

Hello! I'm Mark Belbin, a 4th year electrical engineering student at the Memorial University of Newfoundland. My engineering interests include analog design and simulation, power electronics, and of course, PCB design.

This PCB project is the first step in a custom FOC (Field Oriented Control) ESC that I'm designing. It's based off TI's InstaSPIN technology, enabling sensor-less FOC control of BLDC motors. FOC control should increase efficiency (5-15%) and reduce audible electrical noise compared to the standard trapezoidal control seen in almost every off-the-shelf ESC available.

If successful, this design will be used in an underwater robot for the 2020 MATE ROV competition, but for now it's just a personal hobby-project of mine!

It would be fantastic for PCBWay to help sponsor this project, as it will reduce costs thus enabling further research and development.
