EWS Bascorro Humanoid Robot Soccer Team

EWS Bascorro is a humanoid soccer robotics team from Universitas Diponegoro, established to compete in the RoboCup 2026 Humanoid Soccer League Small Size. The project focuses on designing and developing autonomous humanoid robots capable of playing soccer in dynamic and uncertain environments. The team is composed of students from various disciplines, including electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and computer science, who work collaboratively to integrate hardware and software into a fully functional system. We chose this project because humanoid robot soccer presents a highly complex, real-world challenge that combines artificial intelligence, computer vision, control systems, and embedded engineering, making it an ideal platform for both research and hands-on learning.

As our closest upcoming milestone, our team is gearing up for UNLIMITED 2026, a prestigious technology and innovation event hosted by the Electrical Engineering Student Association (HME) of Universitas Diponegoro. Centered around the theme "Intelligent Systems in Action: Engineering Autonomous Robots for Industry 6.0," this competition serves as an ideal and rigorous platform to validate our practical innovation and technical expertise. The competition challenges us to implement real-world autonomous execution, pushing the team to demonstrate our skills and earn recognition for our engineering precision.

Looking forward, we are eager to leverage this experience to ensure our success in future international stages and inspire more students to pursue their passion for artificial intelligence and robotics in Indonesia. We remain committed to fostering a community of innovation and collaboration, where students from diverse backgrounds can come together to tackle the complex challenges of embedded engineering.

Our proprietary hardware and electronics infrastructure relies heavily on custom PCB development to bridge the gap between software and physical execution. To seamlessly connect our high-level processing unit, an Intel NUC, with the robot's physical hardware, we engineered a dedicated electronic ecosystem consisting of:

1. Centralized Embedded Core & Input-Output Interface

This board serves as the primary processing hub for low-level operations, working in tandem with specialized input-to-output conditioning circuits. It optimizes the acquisition and flow of sensor data, enabling the high-level autonomy algorithms to process heavy streams from the IMUs and onboard cameras smoothly and without latency.

2. High-Current Servo Distribution Board

Designed specifically for heavy-duty power management, this PCB routes high-current power and synchronizes communication commands across the entire network of Dynamixel actuators. Developing this in-house layout allows us to isolate electrical noise, maintain high signal integrity, and ensure precise, stable execution of the robot's bipedal movements during intense match conditions.

The team would greatly benefit from the support of PCBWay. As a team dedicated to designing and building autonomous humanoid robots for high-stakes competitions, we face challenges in sourcing and manufacturing complex parts within our tight timeline. Quick prototyping capabilities would allow us to provide valuable design experience and feedback to more members of our team, enabling them to expand their skills and knowledge for all of our ongoing endeavors. This support will directly enhance our mechanical and electrical alignment, a prototype of which is shown below:

The rugged framework is engineered for agile bipedal locomotion, while the custom PCBs act as the reliable backbone for power delivery and low-latency communication. Having successfully verified our prototypes, our immediate challenge is manufacturing these multi-layer boards with industrial precision.

PCBWay's support would enable us to develop more efficient and effective humanoid robot technology and inspire the next generation of robotics and artificial intelligence enthusiasts in Indonesia. We are excited about the opportunity to collaborate with PCBWay and achieve our milestones—from dominating the local UNLIMITED 2026 competition to showcasing Indonesian engineering at the global stage of RoboCup 2026.
