We are a UAV team based in Istanbul, Turkey. We are under the supervision of the Istanbul Technical University. Our team consists purely of undergradute students. The team was created in 2014 by Bahadır Gökçeaslan. Professor Doctor Emre Koyuncu directly oversees our team in our academic and competitive pursuits. We currently consist of 22 students in 3 sub-teams: Mechanics, Avionics, and PR.
This year we are preparing for 3 different competitions: SUAS, and two Turkish nationwide competitions organized by Bayraktar. In previous years, we have achieved astounding results. In 2023, we got first place in SUAS, and in 2024 we got 2nd place. We have several top 3 results in the nationwide competitions like 1st place in 2021, 3rd place in the last year, etc. Currently we are working on a quadcopter that weighs around 10kg, with a capability to carry 2 payloads. These payloads will be dropped according to a custom detection algorithm that detects certain targets like mannequins and tents with a camera and a custom image detection algorithm, which then commands the payloads (like a bottle of water, or a signal beacon for emergency situations) to be lowered with a winch. For this mechanism in the previous years we used programmable microcontrollers to control the DC motors that lower the winch. This year we plan on using a custom PCB designed by one of our Avionics members to control these motors directly from the Flight Controller:

This PCB utilizes an IC made by Texas Instruments to control 2 DC motors to lower the payloads through a winch. The commands are given through the PWM outputs of the Flight Controller that will be controlled by custom Lua scripts.
We look forward to our partnership with PCBWay in realizing this project as we are sure of our abilities to demonstrate good results carrying the name of PCBWay in any competition.
