DIY Ski Computer

My name is Tobias, and I am a year ten student from Germany. Although my main interest is programming (mainly Python and Dart), a few years ago I also started experimenting with electronics. I have already completed several microcontroller and PCB projects and have a basic understanding of PCB editing software.

Fed by the TikToks of the upcoming ski season, I thought about a perfect idea. A ski computer that tracks body positions and stores them for later analysis and technique improvement. The idea consists of two different modules (for the boots and upper body) with barometers, IMU, and GPS. The results are stored on an SD card and later fed into a fine-tuned analysis model that generates improvements and suggestions for different techniques and terrains. During research I discovered that said idea already exists in a commercial product. But it doesn't quite track all the parameters that I want, and you probably understand that having a DIY project that can later be used and has a real-life purpose and whose code and production files will be open-sourced is not only more useful but also more fun.

I don't quite have a big following on social media, but I think this project would be the perfect opportunity to change that and receive feedback from more experienced hobbyists and builders.

Due to the complexity of the idea and my current status as a student, I don't have the budget to build and produce such a device, and that's the reason I am turning to you. I would be really thankful to receive PCBway credit to produce said boards.

Thanks for considering my project.

Best regards
