Building the future of solar racing at Catawba College

We are the Catawba College Solar Car Team, a brand-new student-led engineering initiative at Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina. As a first-year team of 21 members, we need all the help we can get as we learn the ropes of solar car racing while pursuing our dream of building our own solar car. Our team brings together students from computer science, business, and sustainability programs who share a passion for renewable energy and hands-on innovation. Our goal is to design, build, and race a competitive solar-powered vehicle in upcoming collegiate competitions like the American Solar Challenge.

To make that dream a reality, we are already hard at work developing our own custom PCBs in-house using KiCad. Our designs include a Power Relay Board (PRB_V9), a Pre-Charge Board (PreChargeBoard_V3), a μ-Controller Breakout Board (uCBB_V12) built around the STM32F407, and a μ-Controller Interface Board (uCIB_V12). These boards form the core electrical systems of our vehicle, handling everything from power switching and relay control to microcontroller interfacing and CAN bus communication, all critical subsystems for a safe and competitive solar car.

As a startup team operating on a limited budget, access to high-quality, affordable PCB manufacturing is critical to our success. Your manufacturing support would be essential for bringing those designs to life. PCBWay's reputation for excellent quality and strong support for student projects makes you the dream partner for our team. A sponsorship from PCBWay would allow us to achieve our dreams of becoming an even more competitive solar car racing team! We're a young team with big ambitions, and every great team had to start somewhere. We believe that PCBWay's support would not only help us build a competitive solar car but also inspire a new generation of students at Catawba College to pursue careers in electronics and sustainable technology. Our team is committed to documenting and sharing our journey, giving PCBWay valuable exposure within the collegiate solar car and student engineering community as we grow. Thank you for considering our team we can't wait to share our journey with you!
