Bologna Motorsport A.S.D.
UniBo Motorsport is the official racing team of the Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna, a student-led group that designs and builds high-performance racing prototypes divided into three main projects:
- one hybrid vehicle, named Genesi, that participate in the Formula Student Competition;
- one electric car, named Athena, that participate in the Formula Student Competition;
- one electric motorbike, named Nemesi,three-time consecutive World Champion of the MotoStudent Competition.

We are entirely composed of more than 250 students from different faculties in order to consistently achieve the best results. Since 2009, we have taken part in various Formula SAE events and, since 2018, have started participating in MotoStudent events. These events enable us to compete across international competitions among universities from all over the world.
This year, we are producing a new electric race car, Visione, based on an ambitious project developed last season, featuring a completely renewed powertrain and four in-wheel motors, pushing performance, control, and efficiency to the next level. As part of this project, several critical electronic systems have been developed and manufactured, with the support of PCBWay, our PCB manufacturing partner:
Our PCBs
The 2026 BMS utilizes a master-slave architecture to manage the entire battery pack. These dedicated circuit boards are engineered to provide passive cell balancing and continuous, real-time monitoring of cell voltages and temperatures across every segment of our 600V pack, ensuring the safety and reliability of the high-voltage system

BSPD (Brake System Plausibility Device): A safety-critical board explicitly required by the Formula Student regulations. It monitors brake and accelerator inputs simultaneously and cuts motor power in case of implausible conditions, preventing dangerous situations.
Cockpit Light: A driver-interface device that provides immediate visual feedback inside the cockpit in case of critical errors or system faults.

PCBWay would be an invaluable partner for our team, especially given the technical sophistication of our latest designs. The complexity of our upcoming projects, most notably the development of the Visione electric car with its four in-wheel motors, requires electronic systems of the highest reliability. With over 20 different PCBs integrated into our vehicles, your support would be fundamental in ensuring the performance and safety of our prototypes.
