Aztech Motorsports – STEM Racing National Championship
Project Overview
We are Aztech Motorsports, a student-led STEM Racing team representing our school at the STEM Racing National Championship. Our team earned qualification through strong performances at the regional competition, where we were also recognized with the Best Project Management Award for South India.
Our goal is to design, manufacture, test, and optimize a high-performance miniature Formula-style race car capable of competing at the highest level of STEM Racing. Every aspect of the car is engineered by our team, from CAD modelling and aerodynamic analysis to manufacturing and on-track testing.
Our Engineering Approach
Rather than relying solely on theoretical calculations, we are following a complete engineering workflow similar to that used in professional motorsport.
Our development process includes:
CAD design and iterative modelling
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations
Aerodynamic optimization
Weight reduction
Manufacturing precision
Physical validation through testing
One of our primary objectives this season is to experimentally validate our aerodynamic designs using wind tunnel testing and airflow visualization techniques. This allows us to compare simulation results with real-world performance and continuously improve our car.
Manufacturing Requirements
Producing a competitive STEM Racing car requires extremely high manufacturing accuracy. Even small dimensional deviations can significantly affect aerodynamic performance and overall race time.
We are seeking access to professional manufacturing technologies including:
High-precision CNC machining
Laser cutting
High-quality 3D printing
Precision fabrication services
These technologies will enable us to manufacture components with the accuracy required for national-level competition.
Why PCBWay
PCBWay's manufacturing capabilities make it an ideal partner for our project. Their expertise in precision machining, rapid prototyping, and high-quality manufacturing would allow us to produce competition-grade components while maintaining tight tolerances and excellent surface finish.
Support from PCBWay would help us:
Manufacture precision aerodynamic components
Produce lightweight structural parts
Rapidly iterate design improvements
Validate prototypes before final production
Improve the overall performance and reliability of our race car
Educational Impact
Beyond competition, this project provides invaluable hands-on experience in engineering design, manufacturing, project management, data analysis, and teamwork.
By applying classroom concepts to a real engineering challenge, our team is developing practical skills in mechanical engineering, aerodynamics, CAD, manufacturing, and testing—preparing us for future careers in engineering and technology.
Looking Ahead
As we prepare for the National Championship, we are committed to continuously refining our design through engineering analysis, experimental testing, and precision manufacturing. Every iteration brings us closer to building the fastest and most efficient car possible.
We are excited about the opportunity to collaborate with PCBWay and showcase how professional manufacturing can empower student innovation and engineering excellence.
