AeroDesign ITA - DAS
We are an model airplane team from the Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica, one of the most prestigious engineering institutes in Brazil. Our team has an incredible history, with multiple national titles and strong performances in international competitions. However, a team does not thrive on history alone—we are writing our present, and this data acquisition system marks a new beginning for our electronics division, paving the way for much more advanced embedded systems.
This data acquisition system consists of only three sensors, yet together they provide valuable insights to enhance our aircraft’s performance. These sensors include an accelerometer/gyroscope/magnetometer, an altimeter, and a GPS. The chosen GPS supports RTK technology, making this an ambitious project that we are determined to implement. Additionally, the system features ports for sensor expansion, telemetry connectivity, and an SD card for data storage.

Furthermore, the board has expansion capabilities. The core idea behind this project is to validate as many theoretical simulations as possible, ensuring that our decisions are based on real, reliable data. The project includes additional boards, such as one dedicated to aerodynamic simulations, another focused on structural calculations, and a board designed to assess the aircraft’s performance, including its electrical components.
This is a long-term and complex project, but one that promises significant benefits for our team. By improving our decision-making process through accurate data validation, we will be able to design and build increasingly better aircraft.
