1lb Full combat, Combat robot,
My project is a 1lb combat robot that would use 1 motor per side to drive and 1 motor to power the vertical spinner at the front, The Robot is competing in the socal attack robotics February event however right now me and my father who is my partner in this are working on the cad for the design on onshape. I decided to make it as I have always loved robots and found battlebots very cool when I was younger, My experience on my middle schools Engineering competition hosted through aerospace further fueled my love for engineering as I was recognized for my work because we got 2nd. My experience on my high school robotics team made me realize my interest in engineering are heavily focused on mechanical and so I decided with the help of my dad we were gonna make a combat robot. The robot functions by using 2 motors for drive and 4 wheels. The motor is connected to a pulley that connect to the other wheel allowing 1 motor to power both, the benefit of this verses a 1 motor 1 wheel setup per side is that the robot can be longer giving more room for things like electronics, battery, and the vertical spinner, additionally it makes it so we don't have to worry about the fact that the robot would have to balance itself like you have to worry about on a 2 wheel setup. The vertical spinner is in v3 as of the moment. The design of it is a 2 sided/bladed spinner were our spinner is different from other though is that its not solid or hollow in the normal way, it uses cuts on the actual blade parts of the spinner to decrease weight while keeping the size and strength almost the same. The 1st image was v1 which was a very basic cad model the next image is v3 of the vertical spinner and the 3rd image was a design made to give a deeper understanding of the cad model to my father as he doesn't really do cad well. The cover photo is the cad model as of the moment with slots for wedges to be screwed in, chamfered sides to make hits do less damage and a 1 inch thick wheel cover to prevent the wheels from being hit.
