1999 HONDA NSR500 Engine project
I'm Ander — mechanical engineer and industrial designer behind Ekin Estudio (@ekinestudio). This is one of the most iconic engines in Grand Prix history, rebuilt from scratch: a fully functional 1:3 scale replica of the 1999 Honda NSR500, reverse-engineered in SolidWorks and 3D printed.
And it actually works. Real cooling circuit, a chain assembled link by link, a 6-speed gearbox, brakes with piston and spring, suspension with real travel — 743 parts, 624 screws, printed on a Bambu Lab A1 in PLA + TPU. The content around this build has passed 1,000,000+ views across my channels, with a passionate MotoGP / 3D-printing audience.
THE NEXT STEP — and where I'd love to work with PCBWay:
The goal now is to build the engine as a real, runnable unit. The scope is only the motor: ~60 small parts I'd like to produce in METAL via 3D printing (DMLS/SLM), given the internal detail and geometry they require.
WHAT I BRING:
I run my own equipped workshop, so I handle all post-processing directly — machining seats, threading, tolerance fits, sealing surfaces — and the full engine assembly. That means PCBWay's part is simply printing the pieces; no complex post-work on your side.
