1. Mechanical Concept & Design
The project focuses on a biomimetic mechanical structure that replicates the human hand's anatomy. The design is optimized for a high strength-to-weight ratio, ensuring the hand is light enough for daily use but strong enough to handle functional loads.
2. Structural Components
Chassis & Frame: 3D-printed using high-impact polymers (like Carbon Fiber PLA or PETG) for maximum durability.
Joint Mechanism: Features a multi-axial joint system at the knuckles to allow for smooth flexion and extension.
Tendon Drive System: Uses high-tensile strength nylon or steel cables as "artificial tendons" to translate rotational motion from the servos into linear finger movement.
Grip Surfaces: Integrated TPU (flexible material) pads on the palm and fingertips to increase friction and provide a secure "anti-slip" grip.
3. Actuation & Kinematics
Degrees of Freedom (DoF): The hand is designed with 5 independent Degrees of Freedom, allowing each finger to move separately.
Linkage System: A sophisticated linkage assembly ensures that as the finger closes, the force is distributed evenly across the phalanges (finger segments).
Wrist Interface: A modular "Quick-Connect" socket designed to be compatible with standard prosthetic liners.
4. Technical Assembly Details
Internal Routing: All mechanical cables and electrical wiring are routed through internal "conduits" to prevent wear and tear.
Modular Digits: Each finger is a modular unit, making it easy to replace or repair individual parts without disassembling the entire hand.
Tensioning System: Includes adjustable tensioners to fine-tune the "artificial tendons" for precise finger alignment.
