Technical Project Report: Smart Home Controller System

1. Project Overview & Problem Statement
The "Smart Home Controller" is an integrated IoT solution designed to transform traditional manual home management into an automated, energy-efficient system.
Challenges Addressed: High energy consumption due to lack of monitoring, manual operation of high-voltage appliances, and absence of real-time environmental feedback.
Objectives: To centralize control, enhance user comfort, and implement safety protocols through opto-isolation technology.
2. System Architecture & Components
The system is built on a modular hardware-software framework:
Main Microcontroller: ESP32 Dev Module featuring dual-core processing and integrated Wi-Fi for cloud connectivity.
Sensory Array: * DHT22: For high-precision temperature and humidity monitoring.
LDR: For ambient light sensing to automate lighting systems.
Power & Actuation: * Relay Module: 5V Relays designed to switch 220V AC loads.
Opto-isolation: Integrated safety barrier to protect the low-voltage MCU from high-voltage spikes.
Connectivity: MQTT/HTTPS protocols for seamless data exchange between the hardware and the cloud server.
3. Functional Mechanism (Operational Logic)
The system follows a closed-loop feedback mechanism:
Command Phase: The user triggers an action via a custom Mobile App Dashboard.
Transmission: The command is routed through a Cloud Server to the ESP32 via Wi-Fi.
Execution: The ESP32 triggers the Optocoupler, which safely activates the Relay to power the 220V appliance.
Feedback Loop: Real-time sensor data is sent back to the App, providing the user with immediate status updates.
4. Technical Specifications for Manufacturing (PCBWay Focus)
Board Type: Double-layer PCB.
Power Requirements: 220V AC input to a 5V DC step-down power supply module.
Safety Standards: Isolation slots between high-voltage and low-voltage traces to prevent arcing.
Engineering Summary
This project represents a synergy of Electronics, IoT, and Software Engineering. It is designed for scalability, allowing for more sensors and actuators to be added depending on the home environment's needs.
