UHF RFID Antenna PCB for EM4325 Tag + RF Power Harvester (0.6 mm FR4)
This project presents a custom-designed 2-layer PCB for a wireless magnetic field sensing system using a passive UHF RFID platform. The design integrates two critical RF antennas:
A 915 MHz CPS (coplanar stripline) antenna for UHF RFID communication
A meandered dipole antenna for RF power harvesting
The system is based on the EM4325 RFID chip, the DRV5055 Hall-effect sensor, and the P2110B RF power harvester. Data is collected from the magnetic field using the Hall sensor, converted to digital by a microcontroller (PIC18F series), and written to the EM4325’s memory via SPI. The board operates entirely wirelessly, without batteries, and is intended for HVDC current monitoring through non-invasive magnetic sensing.
The board was simulated, designed, and validated following Shijie Fu’s thesis at the University of Manitoba, with a focus on matching the exact antenna impedance and minimizing PCB losses for high RF efficiency
