Simple Human-Machine Interface (SHMI) PCB

This project, developed as part of a scientific research program at UTFPR (Federal University of Technology - Paraná), details the design and implementation of a Human-Machine Interface (HMI) to control power electronic converters, specifically a DC-DC Buck converter.
The main objective is to simplify the operation and validation of these converters in research and educational laboratory settings. Currently, configuring parameters like switching frequency (f_ch) and duty cycle (D) often requires a desktop PC or notebook. This custom HMI PCB (Placa IHM v1.0) replaces that dependency, offering a dedicated, low-cost hardware solution.
The system is based on an ATMEGA2560 microcontroller (on an Arduino Mega 2560 board) and this custom-designed PCB, which integrates all the necessary peripherals for standalone control:
* A 4-digit 7-segment display for data visualization.
* Push buttons and a rotary encoder for parameter adjustment.
* Connectors for the PWM signal outputs and power.
A key technical challenge solved by this project was the voltage mismatch between the HMI's 5V logic and the 15V input required by the industrial gate driver (SKHI22). To solve this, a companion 'Interface Driver Board' was also developed to perform the necessary voltage level shifting.
**Note on Prototyping (v1.0): As seen in the prototype photos (IHM e Interface.jpeg), the v1.0 board required a minor physical modification. A corner had to be cut to avoid mechanical interference with the Arduino Mega's onboard power jack. This is a known issue in this first version, and a future v1.1 design should include a proper cutout in the PCB layout to ensure a perfect fit.**
