Open-Source Autonomous Car – Full PCB Design, 3D Chassis
An open-source, small-scale autonomous vehicle platform designed for makers, students, and developers to explore real-world robotics. Combining sensor fusion, computer vision, and AI algorithms, this modular system balances performance with accessibility.
Hardware
Microcontroller: ESP32-S3-MINI-1 (WiFi/Bluetooth).
Sensors:
- VL53L8CX: Time-of-Flight LIDAR for obstacle detection or SLAM.
- BMI323: IMU (accelerometer and gyroscope) for motion and orientation tracking.
- Camera: Arducam 5MP for computer vision.
Motors: 4x 6mm planetary geared motors (Gearmotor 6420 RPM 3VDC).
Motor Drivers: A3908EEETR-T for motor control.
Power Management:
- Battery: 3.7V 2000mAh Li-ion.
- Voltage Regulator: MP2153GQFU-33-P (3.3V output).
Software
Firmware: Written in C/C++ for the ESP32.
Algorithms: For object detection, SLAM, etc.
