MiSTer Floppy (Thru-Hole Version)
MiSTer Floppy is an add-on board that connects to the MiSTer USER port to provide real physical floppy disk access on the MiSTer Multisystem.
Currently only the Minimig core is supported. For more details see https://mister.robsmithdev.co.uk/
This board is meant for hobbiests that want to solder the PCB up themselves. You will have to source the parts too unless you get PCBWay to assemble it. If you DON'T want to solder it, and want PCBWay to assemble it, then I recommend the SMD version instead.
NOTES: For this to work you will require THREE jumpers. One to select the type of drive connected (defaults to IBM/PC), one to select the drive power source (MiSTer or External) and one to enable writing to disks. There are two reasons why this project might not work properly and they both relate to power. See the website below for details.
CONNECTION: To connect this to the MiSTer you use the USER PORT (the one that looks like a USB3 connector). This is usually located on the I/O board (I/O Board V6.1 or later required! The IO6 jumper must ALSO be in the IO6 position and NOT the 3.3v position and some of these boards have been badly manufactured or don't have IO6 connected).
Cable: The cable should be as short as possible. My favourite is this one, although the ones tested and supported by the MT32-Pi should also work.
MiSTer MultiSystem (V1) I recommend leaving Jumper J17 at 5V, and SW7 to the LEFT (in the IO6 position). MiSTer Multisystem 2 does not have a User Port and Heber are developing their own custom MiSTer Floppy add-on.
