Laser Module Tester
I recently acquired 3 12V laser modules each, to perform various experiments. I didn't want to mount them one by one on the CNC3018 that I have, in order to test them, so I decided to design this small PCB circuit for that purpose. It has a 12VDC input, which is used to power the laser module, and is also regulated to 5VDC to power the circuitry in general.
It has a pair of push buttons, which will serve both to decrease and increase the percentage of power sent to the module in question. The board has (optionally) a built-in LED that will serve as a witness of the PWM output that is sent to the laser module.
Materials
- ATtiny13-PU family
- 0.91" I2C OLED display (128x32)
- 2 SMD pushbuttons
- 5mm THT LED (as a warning light, preferably red, optional)
- SOT-223-3 AMS1117-50 SMD regulator
- 1K 1206 SMD resistor (for the optional LED)
- 10K 1206 SMD resistor
- 100n (104) SMD 1206 ceramic capacitor
- 10u (106) SMD 1206 ceramic capacitor
- 22n (226) SMD 1206 ceramic capacitor
- 4x2 socket for the ATtiny (optional)
- 4-pin socket (optional, for the display)
- DC jack connector for PCB (DC-005)
- 3-pin JST-XH connector
- Header 3x2 for ICSP (optional)
Features
- Simple and easy to assemble
- Useful for testing any 12VDC laser module
- Powered by 12VDC 5.5x2.1 jack cable
- Easily increases/decreases the output force to the laser module
- Easy to program the ATtiny "In-Situ", thanks to the built-in ICSP connector
- Has four holes for mounting (if desired), whose measurements are for metric 2.5 bolts (M2.5)
PCBWay Service
Both the circuit and PCB schematics were designed in KiCAD v8. The Gerber was then generated so that it could be sent to PCBWay for manufacturing (like all my boards that I have made). On this occasion, a green PCB with white silkscreen printing was chosen (the classic).
We received the PCBs in just 10 days (to Chile), and as always, the quality was exceptional.
It should be mentioned that during these ten years, PCBWay has distinguished itself by providing exceptional PCB manufacturing and assembly services, becoming a trusted partner for countless engineers and designers around the world.
Its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction has been unwavering, leading to significant growth and expansion.
My advice: check out PCBWay here if you want excellent PCB service at an affordable price, you won't regret it.
