LM317 + NE555 Bench Power supply 0-30V / 0-1 Amp
Build a cheap and reliable bench power supply, 0–30V & 0–1A with standard components like the LM317 and NE555.
This design is based on a ON-Semiconductor application note but simplified with common “jellybean” parts and a NE555 charge pump to generate the negative voltage reference needed for output control down to 0 Volt & 0 Amp.
Check out the YouTube video with a full explanation & demonstration of this power supply:

Output Range: 0–30V DC / 0–1A Adjustable Current Limit
Components: 3x LM317 regulators, 1x NE555 timer, basic NPN jellybean transistors, standard passive parts
Negative Rail: Built-in NE555 charge pump (~7 kHz) providing -9V to bypass the LM317's 1.25V minimum limit
Metering: Cheap DC 100V 10A dual panel meter integration
