Inline-4 (I4) Engine – Internal Mechanism (SolidWorks Model)

I designed an Inline-4 (I4) engine internal mechanism in SolidWorks, focusing only on the core moving components rather than the outer body. The model includes the crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, and cylinder heads, accurately arranged to represent the inline configuration and real mechanical working.

The purpose of this model was to clearly understand how linear piston motion is converted into rotary motion through the crankshaft, and how multiple cylinders are synchronized on a single shaft. Correct relative positioning of crank throws and connecting rods was maintained to reflect realistic piston movement across the four cylinders.

This model does not include the outer engine block, casing, or accessories, as the main goal was mechanical clarity and learning, not visual detailing. The project strengthened my understanding of engine kinematics, assembly constraints, and parametric modeling in SolidWorks, and acts as a base for future full-engine designs and simulations.
