In this project I will show you how to build a simple DIY battery bank that can charge USB devices.

The device uses a single 18650 lithium ion battery. The battery can supply 3.7V which is not suitable for powering USB devices. So we will have to use a boost converter to step t he 3.7V to 5V.

To charge the batteries we will use a TP4056 battery managment module. This has a micro USB connector on so you can plug it in to charge the internal battery.

There will be a switch on the output of the power bank so that you are able to turn on and off the power bank so that the battery does not get drained when it is not in use.

Use wire to connect the parts together. To join wire to the battery you can use solder just try to heat up the battery for too long as this may damage it

I have designed a 3D printable enclosure so that the power bank can be portable. I have included the STL file so you could print one your self.

If you don't have access to a 3D printer you could put the project into a standard project enclosure. you will just need to make cut outs for the USB connections and the button

Once you have printed the enclosure you can hot glue the TP4026 module into place over the micro USB slot and also Hot glue the USB A connector into position. Also hot glue the button head onto the button and then glue the button into the enclosure.
