Commodore 64 Joystick Switcher (Revision C)
Do you know what really irritates me about Commodore 64 games? They always seem to insist on having you use the joystick in the other controller port, so you constantly have to unplug and reinsert the cable. Yes, it's a small irritation though it's certainly an easily fixable one - you need a joystick switcher, and because I'm in a mood of building these things instead of buying them you can also have one!
The idea is simple, you plug the switcher into your Commodore 64 and then plug your favourite joystick into the controller port on that instead. Whenever the game requires the use of a different port, you just push the corresponding and then you're all set instead of having to deal with the cable. Because I wanted the option for one, the board also includes an adjustable auto-fire circuit. If you have a dual-button controller, this is also supported by the board.
Note that the joystick switcher is not suitable for use with the Sega Genesis or Mega Drive controllers, if you want to use one of those without risking damage to your Commodore 64 you'll need something like my Mega Switcher instead.
A complete BOM, schematic diagram and any other information is provided on the github-repository for this project.
