LED Tuning Board
If you were to take a look at my shared projects, you'll find that for someone who doesn't actually love having a bunch of LEDs on things - I seem to tell people to use a whole lot of them. What I can't tell you is where to find a datasheets for them, because where I shop - you generally get a bag full of them and that's all. Perhaps I should shop in better places, but I just can't stop myself. And as for the end result, there are times where I'm straight up guessing at which value resistor to put in series with it - sometimes it fails to light up, at other times it'll blind people in the next room.
As for a solution, this is what I came up with. A board that takes most types of through-hole LEDs, feed it with power and then you can move the jumpers around until you find something that'll feel comfortable to you. Perfect for a single LED, one less thing to worry about when you're trying to balance three of them in an RGB LED. With the ZIF-socket, you can play around with things as you please.
It was designed around a variable power regulator, but there are also alternatives with a fixed voltage that'll fit into the board with. All of this is covered in the documentation, you'll find that as well as the KiCAD source files on the gitHub-repository for it.
