PCW Gotek Mod
PCW Gotek Mod is a PCB that, when connected to a Gotek programmed with FlashFloppy software, allows the Gotek to correctly respond to the Amstrad PCW's floppy controller signals. This is important when CP/M and LocoScript make certain requests to the controller while booting from 720KB disc images.
It resolves the following issues:
- Hanging on boot of a 720KB image until the image is ejected, and re-inserted.
- Incorrect number of disk drives reported in CP/M on a single drive system.
It also adds an optional piezo buzzer for the simulation of disk drive sounds, and has passthroughs for the other pins on the Gotek header it connects to.
For more information, check the project's GitHub page.
The issue using an unmodified Gotek with an Amstrad PCW was identified, and solved, by Fabrizio Di Vittorio whose original blog post can be found here.
This PCB has been tested with a Gotek SFRKC30.AT2. It should work fine on other Gotek models as long as they have the same header.
