ITU TAYF MODEL SATELLITE TEAM
WHO ARE WE?
ITU Tayf is a model satellite project team established in August 2022 within the ITU Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics. The team consists of 17 undergraduate students from various engineering departments.
WHAT IS A MODEL SATELLITE?
Model satellites are small satellite systems weighing no more than 750 grams and capable of performing many tasks of real satellites. These systems aim to provide students with hands-on experience in space technologies and help develop problem-solving skills.
TEKNOFEST MODEL SATELLITE COMPETITION
In the competition, the model satellite is launched with a rocket up to an altitude of 700 meters, separates from the rocket, and begins to descend while performing various real satellite functions. During this process:
Mechanical integrity must be preserved,
It must move at specified speeds,
It must communicate with the ground station.
OUR TEAMS
Mechanical Team: Responsible for design, material selection, manufacturing, and testing processes.
Electronics Team: Designs power and payload circuits, selects components, and ensures system integration.
Software Team: Works in two main areas: flight software and ground station. Handles data processing, live streaming, and manual commands.
Organization and Design Team: Manages internal coordination, external communications, and design efforts.
OUR VISION
To support students' development in the fields of aviation and space,
To build a continuously successful and innovative structure,
To prepare graduates for the industry and entrepreneurial opportunities.
OUR ACHIEVEMENTS
ITU Tayf successfully reached the flight phase with two teams in the 2024 Teknofest Model Satellite Competition.
OUR FUTURE GOALS
To specialize in communication technologies,
To participate in international model satellite competitions (USA and Europe),
To become a pioneer in the industry through innovative R&D projects.
