Falak is a Mars rover designed to operate in outer space and perform multiple autonomous tasks.
Its main missions include collecting soil and rock samples from the Mars surface, Maintain other rovers and space ships , autonomously navigating to assigned goals and traversing uneven and rough terrain.
Falak can be separated into 5 main modules
- Chassis: -
The 59cm × 42cm × 17cm frame is built from 20×20 mm aluminum T-slot profiles, offering:
- Easy reconfiguration.
- Structural rigidity.
- High strength to weight ratio
- Efficient housing for electronics and batteries, enabling easy access during field maintenance and reducing heat interference.

2. Suspension system:
Dual rocker arms, each linked to a bogie and two wheels, with a central differential bar for passive self-balancing over uneven terrain. Structural elements use 40x40 mm aluminum square sections.
The Rocker-bogie is designed for stability, terrain adaptability, durability, and modularity, ensuring continuous ground contact and protecting sensitive electronics.
- Exceptional Obstacle Negotiation : Flexibly climbs over rocks up to twice wheel diameter, ensuring continuous progress.
- Superior Stability & Traction : Keeps all 6 wheels on the ground for maximum grip and even weight distribution, preventing stuck situations.
- High Tilt Resistance : Maintains stability on extreme slopes, significantly reducing overturn risk.

3. Driving System :
High-torque brushed DC motors (120 RPM, 23 N·m) are mounted on custom-machined brackets to ensure proper alignment and withstand mechanical stress.
Encoders are connected to the motor shafts through the 1:1.8 gear drive for precise feedback.
Off-Road Wheels to ensure enough traction and ability to operate on any surface.

4.Robotic Arm & Gripper :
2 DOF Robotic Arm at the shoulder and elbow Joints both using 24V DC motors to move the links
3 DOF Gripper (Linear motion of the jaws , pitch and roll ) using Stepper & DC motors .
Used to collect samples from the Ground and able to control a panel up to 1.5 meter .
the gripper can open up to 24 cm.

5.Drilling mechanism :
- auger used to drill in the mars Yard.
- Dc motor (24V) used to Move the Auger in Two Directions
- Lead screw to move the Auger and the motor up and down To allow the Driller to drill up to 30cm in the Mars Yard.
