ESP8266 IO board (for education)
The ESP8266 IO Board is a didactic development platform specially designed for teaching and learning embedded systems and IoT programming. Based on the popular NodeMCU (ESP-12E) module, this board provides a ready-to-use environment where students can focus on coding, testing, and understanding real-world applications.
The board includes:
- Easy access to all NodeMCU pins, clearly labeled for fast prototyping.
- Built-in peripherals such as push buttons, an RGB LED, and a photoresistor to explore digital and analog inputs/outputs.
- Expansion headers for USART and additional sensors or actuators.
- A compact and robust design that makes it ideal for lab sessions and workshops.
With its low cost and versatility, the ESP8266 IO Board allows learners to quickly create IoT experiments, smart devices, and interactive systems without the complexity of wiring on a breadboard. It is an accessible tool both for beginners and for advanced courses that require reliable hardware to demonstrate concepts in networking, automation, and cloud integration.
This project aims to bridge the gap between theory and practice, empowering students to gain hands-on experience with one of the most widely used platforms in IoT development.
Additionally, the exclusive use of SMD components is intended to simplify home fabrication (via thermal transfer or similar methods) by avoiding the need for drilling holes.
