The Input Board is one of four boards that make up the BoatOpenIO gateway. It requires the rest of the BoatOpenIO system to work — it plugs into the main board via a 20-pin IDC ribbon cable and cannot be used on its own.

16 screw terminal inputs, one per sensor channel. Each channel carries protection circuitry: a series resistor, a Zener clamp, and a pull-down resistor to keep unused channels at a defined zero instead of floating and picking up noise.

Signal conditioning (voltage dividers, pull-ups, optocouplers) happens on swappable mini boards that plug in via JST connectors — one per channel, chosen based on the sensor type.

This is Rev 2, with improved protection circuitry over the first version.
