BLASTIC IoT SCALE - a Precious Plastic Open Source Fund's project
The Blastic IoT Scale will be a convenient way for Precious Plastic workspaces (https://www.preciousplastic.com/) to monitor their plastic waste management and a great tool to upload their collection data online to a custom collection (of plastic to be recycled) data upload system on Google Form in the layout of Precious Plastic'soriginal collection form (http://upload.preciousplastic.com/).
It is a very versatile a customizable tool built onto the Arduino opensource platform and designed to be economical. It is precise in mesaurements and strong (actual prototype can weight up to 300 kg). The scale has a simple one interface that selects the type of plastic waste that is being collected and uploads the data to Google Form quickly with a simple touch. It has a matrix led screen that informs the user with the weighting data and also the upload status.
The project is the result of more than one year of developement, blogged here: https://community.preciousplastic.com/research/blastic-iot-scale
It started as a winner of the PPOSF grant https://pposf.preciousplastic.com/
Special thanks to to Lorenzo Pistone (https://github.com/pisto) who has coded a pristine software for the project. If you sneek peak into it (link to the repo in the dedicated section below) you will find out why I am so grateful. Also, there are lots of hidden gems for advanced Arduino devs there.
Take a look to the contest in which this tool will be used, as an example a Precious Plastic Injection Workspace:
