XUM1541 allows you to connect Commodore disk drives (i.e. 1541) to PC and read/write to disks.

This board is a 4th revision of my PCB design. It is compact and DIY friendly (only through hole components are required).

Instructions for Windows

Flashing XUM1541

1. Download and unpack avrdude: https://github.com/mariusgreuel/avrdude/releases/
2. Download latest firmware from OpenCBM repository for PROMICRO 7406 version: https://github.com/OpenCBM/OpenCBM/tree/master/xum1541 at the time this instruction is written: https://github.com/OpenCBM/OpenCBM/blob/master/xum1541/xum1541-PROMICRO_7406-v08.hex
3. Copy firmware file to avrdude directory
4. Open device manager. Connect XUM1541 to PC and press RESET button on XUM1541 board. A device in LPT & COM ports section will show up for few seconds. Note down what exact port number it was, i.e. COM5.
5. Navigate to avrdude directory in Command Prompt, type in command but don't run it yet: avrdude -p m32u4 -c avr109 -P com5 -U flash:w:xum1541-PROMICRO_7406-v08.hex
6. Make sure to replace com5 in above command to the port from step 4. Reset XUM1541 and run the command. XUM1541 will be flashed.

Installing software (Windows 7-10 64bit)

Download the installer from: https://github.com/r1me/TapeXUM/releases/download/1.0/xum-installer-x64.zip

This single button installer will detect XUM1541, install required OpenCBM libraries and CBMXfer software.
