T250 – World's Fastest Open-Source 3D Printer - Toolhead Kit
This project includes all toolhead parts optimized for SLS printing, which I strongly recommend printing in Nylon for best performance.
Included parts:
- Carriage Front and Back
- Extruder Backplate
- Part Cooling Duct
- BD Sensor Holder, and Shield
The Carriage and Extruder Backplate must be printed in a heat-resistant material, as they come into direct contact with the pancake stepper motor and are exposed to elevated temperatures.
The Part Cooling Duct and BD Sensor Mount are also recommended to be printed in Nylon. In tests with alternative materials, these parts have shown a tendency to fuse with molten filament and therefore collect strings of filaments over time
The parts were tested with the T250 Linear Motion Kit, and all tolerances are optimized for the bearings included in that kit.
If you plan to use different bearings, please note: there is no standardized groove geometry across bearing manufacturers, so there's a high chance that the parts won’t fit properly without modification.
Here is an overview of the settings I recommend:
