RK3399 Based Single Board Computer with 4gb LPDDR4 Ram
This project presents the design and development of a high-performance Single Board Computer (SBC) based on the Rockchip RK3399 SoC, targeting compute-intensive embedded applications such as AI edge computing, robotics, industrial control, and multimedia processing.
The RK3399 integrates a hexa-core ARM big.LITTLE architecture (dual Cortex-A72 + quad Cortex-A53) and a Mali GPU, enabling strong CPU and graphics performance. The board supports LPDDR4 high-speed memory, carefully routed with controlled impedance, length matching, and optimized topology to ensure signal integrity and stable operation.
The SBC exposes a rich set of interfaces including PCIe, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI, MIPI CSI/DSI, UART, SPI, and I²C, providing flexibility for expansion and peripheral integration. A robust power delivery network (PDN) using multi-rail DC-DC converters ensures efficient, low-noise power for CPU cores, memory, and high-speed I/O.
PCB layout design emphasizes high-speed routing, EMI control, thermal management, and manufacturability. Copper pours and thermal vias are used to improve heat dissipation, while the PCB stack-up is optimized for impedance control and cost-effective fabrication. The design follows DFM/DFA best practices, making it suitable for both prototyping and mass production.
