INS8060 aka SC/MP II (Simple Cost-effective MicroProcessor) is a CPU manufactured by National Semiconductors, that was introduced to the market around 1977. Having played with SC/MP used in Science of Cambridge MK14, I wanted to experiment more with this CPU.

I came across a page maintained by Ron - Ronald Dekker that described a nice "microcomputer" based on INS8060. Ron published the schematic diagram, but the device was built on a prototyping board. The overall design fits very well into my MGHxx theme of single board computers (see my other projects like the MGH80 based on Z80) so I decided to create a PCB for the project adding a few additional elements.

The firmware can be found on Ron's page, but while I was developing the board, Phil stepped in and started working on firmware improvements - upgrading the speed to 2400 baud.
