Replaces the plastic (acetal) low speed gear carrier in Lewmar Mamba 1/4hp 12v auto pilot drives (Lewmar part #85300053). The original low speed gear carrier is one of the most common points of failure. The acetal is affected by the grease in the gearbox which makes it swell and crack.

I designed this replacement and had it made in PA12 nylon, 3D printed using SLS by PCBWay. The product was very pleasing and the fit excellent.

To use this part you need the steel shafts from your old/broken gear carrier. The new part is placed in boiling water to soften it a little, then the shafts are pressed into the nylon (careful hammering works). See the photo of the assembled part.
