Isolated USB to RS232 Adaptor
This is a simple device which adds an electrically safe RS232 serial port to a laptop or PC using the USB
It provides isolation up to 2.5kVDC, so most industrial devices can be connected and there is a minimal chance of creating a ground loop or damaging the USB port if there is an electrical fault on the equipment / multiple ground paths.
It has some other small features, a standby power mode for saving the laptop battery when not in use.
Also RX and TX activity lights useful for debugging.
And some transient voltage suppressors on the RS232 lines to absorb voltage spikes so they don't damage the IC.
Uses an Analog Devices ADM3251E as the main isolation barrier / converter.
